The Los Angeles Galaxy forward and six-time national player of the year was named the MLS most valuable player yesterday for the first time in his career.

Lincecum, nicknamed "The Freak" for his giant stride, had only 15 victories but led the NL with 261 strikeouts and tied for the league lead with four complete games and two shutouts.

Steve Wallace and Brendan Gaughan will remain the team's drivers. 


Additionally, a separate agreement with Rusty Wallace, the 1989 Cup Series champion, will enable him to represent the Toyota brand on a national basis.
